Totally failed at blogging in the month of March. It’s no longer March but I will still talk about how March ended!
First things first – I got the internship! Whoo!! It’s going to be a 15-16 week internship and it’s going to be awesomeeeeeeeee!
March 27-29th – Family Cabin Trip in Lake Tahoe
Our second annual Tran Clan family trip to Lake Tahoe! Unfortunately there was no snow but it was a fun trip regardless. On Friday, we took off around noon and stopped by Davis for lunch. Dumpling House is my brother’s all time favorite restaurant in Davis and it’s definitely up there on my list as well. I know there are a lot of boba places in Davis but Dumpling House’s milk tea is pretty damn delicious.
We got to South Lake Tahoe around 4pm and did some grocery shopping. Since a bunch of my cousins were busy that weekend we extended invite to close friends aka more drinking and more babies! My cousin Aiden and my uncle’s best friend’s son, Liam. Aiden is 2 months older than Liam but they’re about the same size.
We spent Friday night partying like we were college kids. Beer pong, baseball, rage cage, flip cup, relay, and shots … lots of them. I was drunk by midnight and just clocked out. Apparently they played Taboo – Tran Clan vs Outcasts. I believe the Outcasts won and we never heard the end of it.
The next morning I woke up drunk and it eventually turned into a hangover. It was awful. Yoongi was congested because of allergies and couldn’t sleep so we went on a morning walk at 730am. It felt really nice outside – air was brisk, neighborhood was quiet, and there were lots of trees around. After an hour we went back to the cabin to find everyone awake and breakfast being served. Perfect timing if you ask me. In the afternoon we went on a “hike” to a nearby lake. It was more of a walk than it was a hike. We had to pick something that was baby friendly.
Â
It was a nice view and we just hung out for a little bit. Aiden kept trying to break free from our grasps and walk into the water but his mom said no. Apparently he really loves the water and beaches. So instead he climbed on this tree stump and sat there for a good … minute.
Since Aiden wanted to touch the water but couldn’t go into the water my brother decided to do this.
It worked – he was satisfied with it. Then we headed back to the cabin. Most of us took naps while the older ones went to the casinos at Stateline. Next thing we knew, it was dinner time! Grilled chicken wings and tri-tip. I love the idea of BBQ’s but hate the idea of planning, preparing, and grilling. After dinner was round 2 of drinking. My poor liver. We had a lot of Tran Clan vs Outcasts competition with drinking games and we got beat multiple times. It was so sad. We didn’t suck but they were so good. For example – not hitting the first flip for flip cup is enough to lose. There was so much shit talking and so many shots taken. T_T.
Sunday was the end of the family trip but it wasn’t the end of the trip for me! Thomas, Yoongi and I headed up to Reno. Yoongi planned a trip to Reno to celebrate her dad, Tony’s, birthday. He took a bus from the bay and met us there. We stayed at the Atlantis (which btw is voted one of Reno’s best hotels) and boy was it amazing. The first night we went to the Oyster Bar. Fresh oysters on half shells and oyster stew! The Oyster stew was good but it was a little too creamy for me.
We spent the rest of the night gambling. No luck this time. So sad. The next day we had massages at the Spa. If you book an appointment with them you get access to the spa from opening to closing. I spent my whole afternoon and well into the evening there (2pm-730pm). The facility was clean, the atmosphere was relaxing, the people there were beyond friendly, and the showers were awesome. I had a Swedish Massage to start my stay there and it felt so good. Swedish massages are aimed to relax the body and to increase the level of oxygen in the blood, improving circulation and easing tension. After that I went to the Brine Inhalation Therapy Room (a cool, dark room with cool mist) and took a nap. I also visited the Aqua Spa Lounge (with cold, warm, and hot pools), the Laconium Relaxation Lounge (dry room but not sauna dry), the steam room, and the dry sauna. After spending a whole day there I ended the day with a shower. They provide you with scrubs that you can use to exfoliate your body to get rid of dead skin – my skin is baby soft now! Their showers are equipped with 5 different shower heads for a full body clean – traditional shower head, top down (my fav), upper body, lower body, and a hand held one.  Then we had dinner and spend the rest of our stay there gambling. Again – no luck. LOL. We left Tuesday afternoon!
Came home to my fresh out the shop baby! After being car-less for almost a month it feels so good to have my car back!
